While meth laws are pretty straight forward, many drug users and meth drug chemists are now trying new methods to get around those meth laws. Being meth laws are being side stepped through what is known as the shake-and-bake method, lawmakers are working to find new ways to crack down on meth laws by making them harsher and the penalties tougher. The shake-and-bake method tries to avoid meth laws by carrying the meth ingredients all separately and only mixing as soon as they are ready to use. The meth ingredients are also much simpler than they used to be in traditional meth labs. These new meth ingredients now contain a two-liter soda bottle, handfuls of cold pills and whatever noxious chemicals drug users can get their hands on. Mix these all together in the soda bottle and meth users now have access to their drug of choice, which is one of the most addictive drugs on the streets.

Because this new method is catching on as a way to avoid being prosecuted for violating meth laws, lawmakers are cracking down by watching how much cold medicine people purchase over the counter as well as what objects people tend to be carrying. Unfortunately most drug users do not realize how dangerous the shake-and-bake method can be. It is not uncommon for a meth lab to explode, causing dangerous and often deadly results. The same devastating results can happen with the shake-and-bake method if the procedure for making the drug isn't followed exactly. The bottle with meth chemicals inside can explode causing death and severe damage to the person holding, or is close to the bottle.

Enforcing Meth Laws:

With state meth laws, the state lawmakers are striving to close loop holes in the laws that would allow for this type of behavior to help prevent these methods of making the drugs grow out of control. Lawmakers are concerned that even by instituting more meth laws, the drug users will just try and find the next way to circumvent the newer meth laws continuing the cycle.

Meth laws don't always just pertain to the drug making, selling and consumption of the drug, but can also pertain to doing the drugs in front of children, which is a federal offense. Children that are removed from homes where the parents have been convicted of meth use, are protected under meth law to protect them from having to return to the home unless the caregivers or parents are able to pass regular drug testing.

The Severity of Meth Laws:

Meth laws range from misdemeanor to felony charges depending on how much of the drug is being possessed or sold. Those under the influence of methamphetamine or other drug paraphernalia are also at a high risk of violating meth laws. Because meth is one of the most dangerously addictive substances on the street market, lawmakers and law enforcement officials are doing their best to crack down and enforce meth laws with the most severity possible. As meth continues to grow in popularity across the United States, more and more drug users are becoming addicted to the drug.

Prevention:

Being aware of the meth laws are important because it can be used as a talking tool between parents and their children. It is important for young teens to understand just how dangerous the effects of meth can be as well as the legal repercussions they are to face if they are caught with the substance through ingestion, distribution or possession.
